Meet Amanda
I’m Amanda, the heart behind Selah Sorts. I grew up in Minnesota and have loved organizing for as long as I can remember. As a kid in the 90s, I spent hours arranging my room and cutting dream-house photos from magazines, building a little “portfolio” of the home I hoped to have one day.
After college, my husband and I sold our first home—a townhouse—and moved to East Africa. It was a huge transition. We sold nearly everything, including our wedding gifts. Three years later, we moved back to Minnesota to welcome our first child. Within a year, we bought a foreclosed home in our hometown and had so much fun renovating it, inside and out.
That was just the beginning. We moved again to another fixer-upper. After a few years, we sold everything once more and moved overseas to Ecuador. When COVID hit, our plans were turned upside down and we returned to Minnesota sooner than expected. We were fortunate to find another midcentury fixer-upper, poured our hearts into it, and even turned it into a successful Airbnb for a few years.
During that season, I started helping other people organize and love their homes. I sorted garages, catch-all rooms, closets, barns—you name it, I sorted it. I saw how quickly a lighter, calmer space could lift a weight off someone’s shoulders.
Eventually, we were done with long winters and moved our family to Florida. More transitions followed, including hurricanes and flooding in our rental home. Once again, I found myself organizing—this time with a stronger focus on digital spaces. I scanned photos and important paperwork, and helped a mom sort through her children’s artwork and memories, turning them into meaningful albums.
My life has been full of transitions: international moves, cross-country moves, having children, selling homes, living through renovations. In many ways, it feels like one long season of change. That’s why I care so deeply about walking with others through their own transitions.
I want to help you create a home that feels calm and welcoming, so you can focus on what truly matters to you.
The name Selah Sorts comes from the word Selah in the Bible—a pause, a moment to stop and reflect. My hope is that organizing your space becomes that kind of pause: a gentle reset in the middle of a busy, changing life.
